Accessibility
Using LedgerKit with a keyboard or larger text, our accessibility checks and how to report a problem.
Making LedgerKit easier to use
We want people with different access needs to be able to use LedgerKit’s calculators and guides. We are improving the site and welcome reports of anything that makes it difficult to use.
Using a keyboard
Use Tab to move forwards and Shift + Tab to move backwards through links and controls. Enter follows links; Enter or Space activates buttons. Use arrow keys in dropdowns and Escape to close an open menu. The “Skip to content” link appears when it receives keyboard focus and lets you move past the main navigation. A visible outline shows the control you are using.
Larger text and narrow screens
Use your browser’s zoom or text-size settings to make the page easier to read. Pages are designed to adapt to larger text and smaller screens. Some wide comparison tables scroll sideways within their own frame. Use Tab to focus a scrollable table, then the Left and Right arrow keys to read other columns.
Calculator fields and results
Fields have text labels and help where needed. An error message explains what to correct when an entry is not accepted. After a successful calculation, keyboard focus moves to “Your result”. Use “Edit figures” to return to the form. If “Copy results” cannot use your clipboard, a selectable result summary is provided for manual copying. Calculators need JavaScript to run; the guides and page explanations can be read without it.
Video walkthrough
The self-employed calculator has a silent video with a written alternative. Open “Read the video walkthrough” below the video to read its steps without playing it.

Our October 2026 checks in Chrome covered keyboard use, enlarged text, narrow layouts and colour contrast. They included all 18 calculators, menus, guides and information pages, with phone-sized views used for representative checks. We used relevant WCAG 2.2 guidance for these checks. These checks were not a full accessibility audit. We have not yet tested with screen readers or checked every browser and assistive-technology combination.
